Abiel Holmes (December 24, 1763 June 4, 1837) was an American Congregational clergyman and historian in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. He was the father of Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr. and grandfather of Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr..

Frederick Philip Grove

Frederick Philip Grove (FPG) (Feb. 14, 1879 - 1948) was born Felix Paul Greve in Radomno, West Prussia, German Empire. He was best known as a prolific translator before he left Berlin for start a new life in North America in late July 1909. In 1912, he came to Manitoba, where he first taught school in Haskett, Winkler, Virden, Gladstone, & finally Rapid City, from where he emerged as a Canadian author in 1922. He died in 1948 on his estate in Simcoe, Ontario, where he had resided since 1930.

Antoine Augustin Calmet (1672-1757)

Antoine Augustin Calmet (26 February 1672 25 October 1757), French Benedictine, was born at Mnil-la-Horgne in Lorraine. He was educated at the Benedictine priory of Breuil in Commercy, and in 1688 joined the same order in the abbey of St-Mansuy at Toul, where he was admitted to profession 23 October of the following year. After his ordination, 17 March 1696, he was appointed to teach philosophy and theology at Moyenmoutier Abbey.
